Munster Senior Football Championship
The Munster Senior Football Championship is the premier inter-county "knockout" competition in Gaelic football in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association and are played during the summer months. The Munster football Final is normally played in July.
Kerry are the most successful, having won the Munster championship 77 times. They have also won the championship eight times in a row on two occasions (1958-1965 and 1975-1982), the most consecutive wins in any of the Provincial Football Championships. The championship is not very competitive, having been won by Kerry or Cork every year since 1923 with the exception of victories by Tipperary in 1935 and Clare in 1992.
The Munster Football Championship is run on a knock-out basis in which once a team loses they are eliminated from the competition. All of the counties of Munster participate in the championship. The winners of the Munster championship go on to qualify for the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship quarter finals.

The Munster championship is contested by all six counties in the Irish province of Munster.
